The Zanzibar Urban Services Project (ZUSP) is an initiative aimed at delivering societal improvements to the people of Zanzibar including installation of street lighting, preservation of cultural heritage and a range of environmental improvements around solid waste management. These included physical measures as well as education programmes, the latter of which Mobius were appointed to support.

• Communication strategy and planning
• Art-direction
• Capacity building
• Community mobilisation

We developed a comprehensive communication strategy targeting behaviours around littering (particularly in storm drains) and supported this through a programme of capacity building equipping local council staff with the skills necessary to run campaigns in the future. A key part of this work was taking the messages directly into the communities that stood to benefit the most from the improved behaviours being promoted.
